“It turns out our stepping stone was actually tofu.”

Ami Yamasaki is a voice and visual artist. She creates performances, sound installations, and workshops based on voice and auditory echo localization. Michael will briefly share some of the ways he uses technology and materials to support learning and self-expression while working in a variety of formal and informal learning environments. This includes schools, museums, DIY culture spaces and a fish processing plant. For the majority of the talk Ami Yamasaki will describe her work as a voice and visual artist. She will show her past work, what she is working on now and in the future. This includes a sound piece with 300.000 handmade paper “feathers,” performances with the likes of Christian Marclay, Ryuichi Sakamoto and many others. She will also share a performance she did in a fish processing plant.
